So this weekend turned out a lot better than I had hoped. I didn’t really plan on doing much but ended up doing some stuff I haven’t done since I’ve been here.
On Saturday I went to an event they were holding at Carson Veteran’s Park. It was for Filipino Independence Day. They had a bunch of booths there selling cool stuff that I wanted to buy but would probably never use, so I didn’t buy anything. It was pretty much just walkin around lookin at stuff.
Today I picked up my friend Karen who I haven’t seen since high school. Originally I had planned to take her down to Santa Monica to go see the pier and walk down Venice Beach and then maybe do some shopping around at the shops there, but when I picked her up we just decided to head over to L.A. to do stuff she always wanted to do.
We walked around for a bit and then took one of those tours of celebrity homes. Two houses I enjoyed stopping by were Michael Jackson’s home (where he passed away, R.I.P. Michael!) and Frank Sinatra’s home.
We didn’t see any celebrities on the tour, but when we got off and started walking around by Grauman’s Chinese Theater we managed to see someone from TV walking towards the mall. I kind of thought he looked familiar so I had to confirm with Karen, but turns out that it was Cole Sprouse from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody! Karen asked him if she could take a picture with him but he declined saying it wasn’t a good time because he didn’t really want to draw attention right now. So she wanted to stalk him for a little bit, but we lost him going into the mall. We walked around a bit more and then had dinner at a sushi restaurant. I have to say, nothing beats spicy tuna like back home. I freakin miss it.
So I took her back to her friend’s house where there was a party because one of her friend’s relatives just graduated from college. I stayed there for a little while because she said she felt weird because she didn’t know anyone. Then headed home and, viola, here I am.
So this weekend turned out a lot better than expected. That tour of celebrity homes made me so jealous. I can’t wait to own my own home, but I doubt it’s going to be nearly as large or as nice as those. If only I were a billionaire…
